The People That Influenced EmpoweredMomGoddess

EDITHA CORPUZ

Right, you might be wondering, who is she? Never heard of her. Well, she is none other than my mum. I know, cheesy as it may be, but she is my hero! My mum reared me and my brother on her own, on top of a full-time Monday to Friday 9-5 job. Being a single mum did not stop and limit her to achieve her goals and providing a good life for us. On the contrary, I believe it made her more motivated. I remember her taking night classes after work to get her Master’s Degree so she can have the promotion she always wanted. I remember her taking aerobics classes with her colleagues, and taking monthly trips to the salon because she valued time for herself and taking care of herself. I remember her resourcefulness when the budget gets tight and her always finding a way to get her finances back on track. And even in those times that she took time for herself, she never neglected our needs. Somehow, she managed to balance it all. I never had that feeling of missing something or missing out on things because we were well provided for, not just financially but emotionally, and spiritually as well. She even managed to send me and my brother to private schools and universities and produced a lawyer and a registered nurse in us. Now, my mum is not perfect, far from it, she is feisty and has a sharp tongue, but she is resilient. She showed me how to get up after falling and how forgiveness can lift a heavy load away and give you that inner peace. She did not give a care about what others thought about her. She knows her worth despite her mistakes, her bad decisions, and her flaws. My mum is a good example of not limiting yourself and defining yourself with your circumstances, that you are more than your circumstances. I believe that she is strong and empowered.

DANI WATSON

Dani is the founder and CEO of The Clique Academy where I learned first-hand the basics and skills of life coaching. Dani has successfully built a supportive community of women that empower each other and help each other through their coaching journeys. Dani came from a corporate background and just like most of us, realised that the corporate world is not her calling and purpose. After experiencing a significant low in her life, she turned to self-help and personal development books and never looked back since. Through that self-help journey, Dani found out her true and soul purpose and started sharing her journey then worked with a life coach and eventually, and thankfully, built a coaching business that helps like-minded women to build a successful coaching business themselves. The very thing that makes me appreciate Dani the most is the business lifetime support she offers to the ladies in her academy, as she totally and completely understands that it can be a lonely path at times to be on your own especially when you are just starting your own business. Now, not all coaching academies would offer that, and, perhaps despite the advice of not giving that offer, she actually did. And that speaks a lot about a person, that she’s there not just for the money, but she genuinely is there to help others.
